Special Needs Course
This vibrant program is developed for young children ages 3 to 6 years old to address the whole child
development. Through highly interactive music and movement, crafts and dramatic play structured
activities, children are developing early literacy skills, language proficiency as well as physical
coordination, muscle tone, directionality and confident body posture.
Music and movement activities include action songs, creative movement and dramatic play in the
music context. These activities naturally promote simultaneous integration of several different senses.
As numerous scientific studies indicate that young children learn better when they move; structured
and purposeful movement activates more parts of the brain. ln particular, movement activities the
visual associative system. Movement is essential for young children’s learning as they go through the
fundamental phase of their motor development.
Musical games, playing simple rhythm instruments and dancing with props such as small balls and
scarves music is another integrated part of this class. They are designed for children to begin
assimilating some rudimentary music skills such as pitch matching, beat competency, ensemble
development and music notation.
We also will make some crafts. The crafts are based on contents of the action songs and relate directly
to the element of “Play”. All projects are open-ended and geared towards the process rather than the
final result. Children will use different art mediums to create an assigned project and will be directly
engaged in creative problem solving, develop further eye-hand coordination as well as understand the
relationship between cause and effect.
